tree yoga’s story
Hello. My name is Pam, and I am the owner and founder of tree yoga. Fitness has always been a part of my life. I put myself through Northeastern University on a rowing scholarship, where I won the national championship in the Women’s Four. I advanced to the U.S. National Team where I competed nationally including winning the Head of the Charles and internationally, placing in multiple competitions. While I was on the Olympic team, weeks before competing in the 1988 Olympic games, I ruptured a disk, ending my athletic career, but introducing me to the importance of healing and recovery.
In spring 2023, my wife had a mild stroke. She was only 55 at the time, but her job was stressful with long hours and demanding expectations. Thankfully, she is doing better. I noticed that when there was a yoga studio close to our home, she was more likely to practice. And I saw how yoga helped not only her physical health but how it brought her calm, focus, and just made her happy.
Thus, the idea of tree yoga was formed. I am coming full circle in my own fitness journey, while making a place for my wife and our community to practice. I hope you will try a class at tree yoga, and I hope you too find a supportive experience that challenges you, excites you, and brings you peace.
